Pro-Level Vocal Performance Classes Offered in September

We are pleased to offer two advanced performance classes for vocalists next session, starting September 17: “Grow Your Show” with Connye Florance and “Crafting Your Cabaret” with Carolyn German.

These pro-level classes give you more “hands on” time with the instructor as well as for working arrangements with the band. The class is limited to only 4 students for this reason. The total cost is $700 for the 12-week session.
Since this is a professional level class, we are requiring an audition to ensure the student is properly prepared to benefit from the class. Auditions will take place Thursday, August 30, from 6-9 pm.

In this class, students will have the opportunity to further develop their individual style and jazz repertoire while putting skills in song interpretation/expression and audience engagement to the ultimate test… a professional show hosted by the Nashville Jazz Workshop. At the end of the 12 weeks, each student will perform a 25-minute set accompanied by a professional trio. Focus will include style, flow, patter, audience engagement, communication with the band and on-stage image. If you’ve been building your song knowledge and working on your performance skills, here’s your chance to step into the professional’s spot, show what you know and “grow Your Show”….AND your audience!
Tuesdays, 6pm, starting September 18

In this class, students will get the opportunity to create a 25-minute show, building on the techniques and skills from previous classes or stage experience. Careful attention will be given to help each singer craft a show that highlights their unique skills as a performer. Direction and coaching will be provided for all elements, including song selection, show arc, patter, tone, title/branding, and more. At the end of the 12 weeks, each student will perform a 25-minute show accompanied by a professional pianist.
Tuesdays, 8pm, starting September 18

Audition Requirements: Thursday, August 30th 6-9 PM

1. Two songs varying in style and tempo along with patter.

2. Bring your book of tunes so instructors can see your songs.

Please email to schedule an audition time.
We hope you can join us for one of these excellent growth opportunities!
